Ben recently passed away on April 18th at the age of 58. At the time, he was in the show as Pumbaa, a part he played for more than 6,000 performances through both the tour and Broadway productions. Prior to that, I was able to interview actor Ben Lipitz for BroadwayWorld by phone. Back in 2016, the national tour of THE LION KING played a month-long engagement at the Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham, North Carolina.
